Please look out for an email which we have sent to all parents regarding our reopening.
We are a small friendly dancing school, founded in 1946 and now with branches in both Ipswich and Felixstowe.
The School's Principal is Jacqualine Bloomfield UTD Diploma, who is assisted by her teachers, Michelle Leeson MUTD, Tanya Verow, Harriet Bacon and Tricia Bewers MBBO. The School offers dancing
lessons in Ballet and Tap at both schools, and also Acrobatic Dance and Modern Dance at Ipswich.
Pupils are prepared for examinations in the syllabus of United Teachers of Dance in Ballet and Tap from the age of 3, and in Modern from the age of 5. Examinations are held twice yearly and although
pupils are taught to the examination standard, it is not compulsory to take them.
The School also works towards an annual show, most recently performed at the Seckford Theatre, Woodbridge. The show has alternated between the Ipswich and Felixstowe schools each year, though this
may change to a combined show. Here, pupils have the opportunity to demonstrate their work in public, and the School raises money for local charities. Some months after the show, pupils are invited
to take part in Medal Tests, which give them a chance to perform their show dances in front of a UTD adjudicator. They are awarded marks and are rewarded with individual medals and certificates.
Classes are held both at our studio in Bath Road, Felixstowe, and at Foxhall Road, Ipswich, both of which have a sprung floor. We also use a pianist for some classes. Classes are held after school
hours on Tuesdays to Fridays in Felixstowe, and Tuesdays to Saturdays at Ipswich. Pupils are required to wear the correct, regulation uniform as well as have their hair tied back. Uniform can be
purchased through the School at competitive prices (see Uniform section of this website).
